About the event
Discover how for centuries the house was more than just a structure and for many, a Gilded Cage. Through six selected art works from the National Gallery of Ireland, we'll learn how the domestic spaces were depicted in Art History, focusing on gender and power, and how art worked as an instruction manual for what the ideal woman should be like.
This tour explores the Universal Male Gaze within the National Gallery, revealing how the home had many meanings: a refuge or a symbol of power for men; but confinement and solitude for women.
